A DRAFT Threat Abatement Plan on marine debris is open for
public comment until August 14, 2008. The plan aims to provide a
coordinated national approach to implement measures preventing and
mitigating impacts of harmful marine debris on vertebrate life. It
identifies the research, management and other actions needed to
ensure the long-term survival of native species and ecological
communities harmed by marine debris.
